New York Fibershed is part of a larger movement envisioning a future where textiles are not separate from the systems that create them, but are part of a living cycle that regenerates the land, strengthens local economies, and deepens our connection to the materials we use every day.

As an affiliate of Fibershed, we are one of many regional fiber communities working with and growing natural fiber and natural dyes, while rebuilding relationships between soil, land, and textiles.

New York State is home to a unique textile landscape — anchored by New York City as a global fashion and garment hub, home to designers, makers, and artisans exploring alternative and regenerative practices, and extending into a diverse rural region of farmland and range that supports fiber production and agricultural livelihoods. We aim to generate awareness and build the skills needed to sustain a thriving textile culture rooted in ecological balance, local economies, and regional regenerative agriculture.
