Carbon Farm Tour

  • Faraway Farms Alpaca 1307 Baptist Church Road Yorktown Heights, NY, 10598 (map)

Join New York Fibershed and New York Textile Lab at Faraway Farms Alpaca for an immersive exploration of healthy soils, regenerative agriculture, and the role material sourcing can play in addressing climate change.

Tour the farm and connect with innovators across agriculture, fiber, and design who are working to transform textile production through regenerative systems. Explore Climate Beneficial™ textiles and join a Q&A on carbon farming, regional supply chains, and strategies for building a more equitable, climate-positive textile industry.

During the farm walk, participants will experience regenerative land management practices designed to draw carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the soil, with opportunities to view soil health demonstrations, learn about carbon sequestration, and hear from experts on raising sheep and alpacas and the relationship between ecosystem health and fiber quality.
